1. What classes do you offer?
We provide firearms safety training, CCW certification & modification courses, CCW application & prep session, Firearms consultations, Situational Awareness & Defensive Strategies, Less Lethal Weapons, Simulator, Firearm Safety & Education, and specialized sessions for women, LGBTQ+, elderly, DV Survivors and disabled students. 2. Do I need prior experience to enroll?
No experience is required. Our beginner‑friendly classes are designed to help new students feel confident and safe.
3. How do I book a class?
You can schedule sessions easily through our Book Online for private classes or Monthly Schedule for our group classes.
Walk‑ins are welcome for select services, and weekend appointments are available. CCW classes & Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting are only available on our monthly schedule tab.
4. What is the CCW certification process?
Our instructor is Certified by DOJ, BSIS, NRA & the state of Utah. Our CCW courses meet the State of California requirements. Initial certification requires 16 hours of training, while renewals require 8 hours.
All CCW applications are done on the Sheriff Department's website in the county of your residence. Some counties only accept training certificates from a "Preferred List" of instructors, so please check with your local county sheriff department before booking a class with us.
5. Do you provide firearms or ammunition?
Yes, for our Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting class we provide a firearm rental, 25 rounds of ammunition, eye & ear protection and 1 target per student. Students may bring their own firearms if they have them.
6. Can I take the Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) test here?
Yes. FSC testing is available for walk-ins Wednesday–Friday 12pm - 5pm and weekends by appointment.
7. What safety measures are in place?
We prioritize strict safety protocols, including controlled classroom & range environments, certified instructors, and inclusive, judgment‑free training spaces.
8. Do you offer group or private sessions?
Yes. We offer group, semi-private, and private firearms instruction with certified instructors, focusing on personalized attention.
9. What range do you use?
We use local indoor & outdoor ranges depending on class size, range hours and availability.
10. Do you accept billing accounts for Live Scan Fingerprinting?
Yes, we accept DOJ & Certifix billing accounts. We do not accept tokens.
11. Do you offer Mobile Live Scan Fingerprinting?
Yes, for groups of at least 10 or more, by appointment. We will come to you and fingerprint your staff or organizations volunteers. A convivence fee will be charged based on how far our technicians have to travel.
12. Do you charge a fee for card payments?
Yes, we charge a 3% processing fee for all card transactions.
13. Do you accept 3rd party ammunition shipments?
Yes, we are a licensed ammunition vendor. We accept 3rd party ammunition shipments & we also sell ammunition in accordance with California law. Please see our shipment policy on the ammunition tab.
14. Where can I find a firearms academy owned by a Black woman in California?
You found us!! Owned by Nakita Price, a California Department of Justice Certified African American Female Firearms Instructor. We are located in capitol city, Sacramento. We focus on creating a safe and inclusive environment for women, especially women of color, to learn firearm skills.
15. Does 3rd Eye Watching sell self-defense gear?
Yes, here at 3rd Eye watching we sell ammunition, stun guns and tasers, pocketknives, personal alarms, self-defense keychains, range glasses (eye protection), range ear protection (electronic muffs & foam plugs).
16. How to improve shooting skills with a local instructor in Sacramento?
You've come to the right place. At 3rd Eye Watching our instructor is DOJ certified & we offer firearms instruction for all skill levels, including private and group lessons. We specialize in California CCW training and have been operating since 2012.
17. Where to find affordable firearms training classes in Sacramento?
